Information on online tickets
International tickets
You can order many international tickets from Germany or to Germany from a European country online or have them sent to you by post. For delivery by post, a fee of EUR 3.90 will be charged. Delivery takes 2-3 working days.
Tickets for children
Online tickets are not available for children travelling on their own, i.e. without parents or grandparents. Our Service Centre will be happy to send you the tickets directly to your home for a processing and postage fee of EUR 3.90.
Personalised ticket
Online tickets are non-transferable and valid only for the passenger entered during booking (with accompanying persons if specified). Please refer to "Ticket inspection on board the train" for further details.
Postal tickets
Tickets sent by post will normally arrive within 2-3 working days. The postage and processing fee is EUR 3.90.
Ticket inspection on board the train
You have booked an online ticket?
Please print it out and present it to the ticket inspector on board the train (make sure that the barcode and background graphics are clearly visible on the printout).

You have booked a mobile phone ticket?
Import the ticket into the DB Navigator app before you travel and show the ticket inspector the opened ticket in the app (on your smartphone or tablet; barcode must be fully visible with the background light switched on).

Ticket inspection on board the train
During ticket inspection, the train attendant will scan the barcode and compare the details on the device display with the name on your ID document.

The following means of identification are accepted during ticket inspection:
• German ID card
• German passport
• Children's passport
• Electronic residence permit
• Asylum registration confirmation (BüMA),
• European ID card
• International passport
• BahnCard (in accordance with the Conditions of Carriage, valid only in conjunction with a photo ID, which may have to be presented on occasion).

Note: driver's licenses are not accepted as a means of identification during ticket inspection.
Booking for somebody else
If you would like to book an online ticket for a friend or family member, you will need a My Bahn customer account. You can register for an account during the booking process. Enter the passenger's personal details during the booking process. The ticket inspector on board the train will compare the name of the passenger with the name on the ID document.

The passenger must present one of the following identification documents during ticket inspection:
• German ID card
• German passport
• Children's passport
• Electronic residence permit
• Asylum registration confirmation (BüMA),
• European ID card
• International passport
• BahnCard (in accordance with the Conditions of Carriage, valid only in conjunction with a photo ID, which may have to be presented on occasion).

Online tickets booked before 1 October 2016

Please note that online tickets booked before 1 October 2016 will require the passenger to present the identification document specified during the booking process to the train attendant on board the train.*
