The bahn.de Mobility Check and Environmental Mobility Check
What is more expensive? A train or a car? How much harmful carbon dioxide does a car emit compared to a train or an aeroplane? Use our Mobility Check to find out.
From door to door: The optimal route planner for your journey:
Use the bahn.de Mobility Check to display the route by car directly alongside the route by public transport and compare the costs and time for your journey. A click on the respective route shows you the directions and a map overview. The routes by taxi, bicycle (up to 30 km) and by foot (up to 8 km) are compared for shorter distances. With the help of the Environmental Mobility Check you can also learn about the energy consumption levels and carbon dioxide emissions of trains, aeroplanes and cars.
The car cost calculation is based on ADAC data
The ADAC has calculated the average total cost per car kilometre. Almost all car models available in Germany were considered in the process. You can even adjust these individually to match your data. To do this click on the "Change" link below the result of the Mobility Check.
Your setting options: mileage, vehicle class, whether the comparative price should be calculated with total costs or variable costs. Alternatively you can also specify a price per kilometre.
Route planner: directions and a map which can be printed out
You can find precise directions for the routes calculated by car, foot, bicycle or public transport and a route plan by clicking on "Display" in the Map/route column. You can of course print out the information for your journey.
