Standard fare - travel flexibly
Families can travel inexpensively
Children under 15 can travel for free if they are accompanied by parents or grandparents! And if your children are travelling on their own, they always receive a 50% discount. Children under 6 always travel for free and are not required to have a ticket. Please register your children who are travelling with you (from 6 up to and including 14 years old) on your ticket or name them when you book your ticket online. You can't register them later on the train.
Notes for taking dogs
If you would like to travel with your dog it’s not a problem!
If you would like to take a larger dog which cannot be transported in a transport container as hand luggage, you pay the same fare as children between 6-14. This rule applies to both standard and saver fares. On the other hand, you can take small dogs (up to the size of a domestic cat) in a transport container at no cost. For safety reasons larger dogs have to be kept on a lead and wear a muzzle. Guide dogs for the blind and companion dogs for disabled people will travel free of charge and do not have to wear a muzzle. Unfortunately it is not possible to book tickets for dogs online. It is also not possible to reserve seats for dogs.
On international journeys you will pay the same fare for dogs as the second class fare for children.
Please note that special conditions apply for both City Night Line and DB Autozug.
