City-Ticket: With the BahnCard you go further...

Travel on public transport for free before and after your rail journey – using your intercity ticket with BahnCard discount or your BahnCard 100. With City-Ticket you can travel for free in over 100 cities in Germany by bus, suburban train, tram or underground from your stating point in the city to the deoarture station and from the destination station to your destination in the city. On both your outward and return journey. The only condition is that you buy a ticket with a BahnCard discount, the destination station for your train journey is over 100 kilometres away and origin and/or destination lie within an area covered by City-Tickets. A City-Ticket does not cost you a cent more and is automatically included on your DB rail ticket for journeys to participating cities. The City-Ticket eligibility is indicated by the suffix “+City” after the station name.

City-Ticket was developed jointly by Deutsche Bahn AG and the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) to enable rail passengers to use both intercity and local transport using only one ticket.

Conditions for holders of a BahnCard

  • The destination station of your rail journey is over 100 kilometres away and the journey is covered by an Intercity ticket
  • City-Ticket applies when the BahnCard discount is used. The City option also applies to any additional passenger without a BahnCard (if the additional passenger is registered on the ticket before the journey starts)
  • The City-Ticket applies on the day of arrival at the destination station and with return journeys on the day of the return journey printed on the Intercity ticket
  • The origin and/or destination of your rail journey lies within an area covered by City-Ticket. City-Ticket is currently valid in over 100 cities

Included with the BahnCard 100

The City-Ticket is automatically included with the Mobility BahnCard 100. This makes you more mobile and you do not have to buy additional tickets in the City-Ticket area. Please note that free travel for children does not apply with local public transport.

Advantage for corporate customers

bahn.corporate customers can also continue their journey by local public transport at the destination is included if they have purchased a standard fare first class ticket with a bahn.corporate discount and the destination station for the rail journey is over 100 kilometres away.
