City-Ticket for BahnCard holders – convenience from door to door

City-Ticket was developed in cooperation between Deutsche Bahn AG and the Association of German Transport Undertakings (VDV) to enable rail passengers to use both long-distance and local transport services with just one ticket.

Benefits for BahnCard holders

A long-distance ticket (route of 100 km or more) which you have purchased with BahnCard discount entitles you to travel free on public transport (bus, S-Bahn, underground and tram) to the departure station and from the station to your final destination within the area of validity of the City-Ticket in more than 100 German cities.

BahnCard 100 holders are entitled to free use of all public transport services inside the designated areas of the participating cities. The City-Ticket is included in your BahnCard 100.

Requirements for the use of a City-Ticket:
You have to purchase a ticket with BahnCard discount, your train journey has to cover a distance of at least 100 kilometres, and your departure and destination points must be within the area of validity of the City-Ticket. The City-Ticket does not cost you an extra cent and will automatically be entered on your DB ticket when you travel to one of the participating cities. The addition of "+City" after the name of the station on your ticket shows that you are entitled to use the City-Ticket function.

Route: The departure and destination stations of your rail journey must be inside Germany. The destination station has to be at least 100 kilometres away.
Ticket: Only valid in conjunction with long-distance tickets purchased with a BahnCard discount.
Accompanying passengers: Also valid for one accompanying passenger without a BahnCard (provided the accompanying passenger is stated on the rail ticket before departure)
Validity: Valid for one journey each in the departure and destination cities of your rail journey within the valid areas in the participating cities on the date stated on the long-distance rail ticket.
Area of validity: The departure and destination cities of your rail journey must be within a valid City-Ticket area. City-Tickets are currently valid in 120 cities.

Automatically included in BahnCard 100:
BahnCard 100 automatically includes a City-Ticket. BahnCard 100 is valid for any number of journeys within the areas of validity of the participating City-Ticket cities. Please note that children are not entitled to accompany you free of charge on local public transport services.
