Product overview

Our information system includes all of the stations of Deutsche Bahn and many stops in Europe. It contains a total of around 87,000 stations/stops throughout Europe and more than 330,000 public transport stops in Germany.

Thanks to the partnership-like cooperation with many international, national, regional and municipal transport companies and transport associations, their timetables are also included in the information. When you are searching for information you therefore have access to an extensive data pool which is constantly being updated and represents virtually the whole of public transport in Germany and rail transport in a large part of Europe.

The travel information therefore includes many different products or product names from different transport companies. The product names are supplemented with additional information in the comments of the detailed view of the connection results.

We would like to provide you with a basic overview of our trains:
Intercity-Express (ICE)
Deutsche Bahn’s modern intercity train, which reaches speeds of up to 300 km/h, usually runs on an hourly schedule to the major centres in Germany and some cities in Europe. All of the ICEs offer generous and comfortable seating, some of the seats are equipped with sockets and it is possible to reserve seats with a better mobile phone reception so that the travel time can be used efficiently for work. The ICE Sprinter is particularly fast: it travels direct from Frankfurt to Berlin, for example, in only 3.5 hours. Almost all of the ICEs have an on-board restaurant and/or bistro.
Intercity/Eurocity (IC/EC)
The tried-and-tested passenger train which travels every 1 or 2 hours between many major cities and to tourist regions. Trains with the same internationally-defined quality standard as the IC that connect Germany with the major cities of neighbouring countries in Europe are called "Eurocity". Almost all of the Intercity und Eurocity trains have an on-board restaurant and/or bistro. The Intercity trains have now been modernised. You can find laptop sockets in the 1st class compartments and at the table seats in the open-plan area of both carriage classes. The Eurocity trains sometimes include carriages of neighbouring train companies and their facilities may therefore vary slightly.
Interregio-Express (IRE)
The Interregio-Express travels at regular intervals and connects towns and regional centres. It is the "fast product" which turns Deutsche Bahn’s intercity and local transport into one system. Modern vehicles ensure you travel in comfort.
Regional-Express (RE)
The DB Regional-Express offers low-cost and fast connections for business travellers, commuters or occasional travellers throughout the whole day and connects the region to the intercity network and the S-Bahn.
Regionalbahn (RB)
The RB regional trains usually serve all stations and represent the basic service for DB’s local transport in the region and between the region and centre, and also provide the feeder service for RegionalExpress.
Night trains (City Night Line, D-Nacht and EuroNight)
When the timetable changed in December 2007, Deutsche Bahn’s night-time services (DB Nachtzug, UrlaubsExpress and CityNightLine) were merged under the City Night Line brand. This single, international brand is setting new standards in international night-time travel. The single brand encompasses not only a common name and a standard appearance in the red and white DB design, it in particular harmonises standards for comfort, quality and service, in so doing setting new standards in international night-time travel. The service comprises numerous connections in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The D-Nacht is a service offered by several train companies and travels to most of the countries in Eastern Europe. EuroNight is a service offered by our partners in Austria, Italy, Hungary and Romania.
